Alvis House, Columbus, Franklin County, OH is an elaborate correction facility for male prisoners located at 1991 Bryden Road, Columbus, OH, 43205. Ohio Department of Corrections started its operations in 1981

The Alvis House safeguarded inside a perimeter wall featured with razor wire and a robust fence as part of security measures. Added to this are 24/7 watchful security personnel who place in firearms.

Alvis House: Visiting an inmate

Visiting Hours:

For the LHU-I inmate group, the visits at Alvis House are on Fridays and Sundays between 3 pm- 5 pm. Saturdays and Sundays are ordinary visiting days between 8pm and 5 pm. Saturday visits include children; however, it’s strictly for adults on Sunday.

However, based on the Alvis House’s visitation rules, only five or fewer visitors can meet an inmate at a time. Similarly, they can only bring not more than $33split in small bills for the inmates in their visits. Usually, the money is for use in the selling machines.

Other rules at Alvis House that apply cut across most prison facilities. These include:

  1. Approved to be in Alvis House visitors’ list

All visitors in Alvis House must therefore book an appointment before the day of the visit. The qualifications considered for approval relate to; closeness to the inmate, relationship, and clean background checks. 

  1. Proper dressing code – no scanty dresses or suggestive ones; otherwise, no entry. The Alvis House only welcomes decently dressed people. One should appear professional in their dress code.
  2. Escaping contraband items at Alvis House

There are a lot of prisons that consider contrabands. The very common of these are drugs, sharp objects, cameras, ropes, pipes, etc. It is only to confirm the specific items before coming to visit Alvis House.

Note: There will be an inspection for any visitor that comes in at the Alvis House’s gate. The Alvis House security personnel on duty will ensure that all visitors abide by the rules and regulations of the Alvis House and the entire correctional Ohio state department.
